Rhenium is used for superalloyed surface treatment of turbine blades (aeroplanes) and improves the plastic deformation and material fatigue.
Our client ECOREN belonging to the Polish KGHM-group sent us a specification for a RoTab T, which is supposed to compact Rhenium powder to tablets. The idea behind was to make the handling and dosing of the extremely expensive Rhenium as easy and lossless as possible for the end client.
The requirements contained a tablet discharge via a conveyor belt with careful treatment of the sensitive pellets, which would be placed manually in sinter trays afterwards.
The left foto shows a special R&D option for the RoTab T with transparent product supply funnel.
This execution allows to watch the product flowability, which is very important for the homogene filling of the dies.
The filling of dies is -different from standard pharma applications (force feeder)- is perfomed by a gravity feeder.
The technical challenge in this project was the development of a special fill shoe guaranteeing optimal product flow and hence a constant tablet weight.
The foto bottom right, shows the especially designed tablet discharge. The tunnel-shaped execution guarantees that all pellets leave the machine in upright position to the conveyor belt.
